Chrome Extension Data Collection

We offer a Chrome extension to our LEAs that allows them to track their organization's browsing activity and then analyze that data to highlight their district's app usage. This extension is intended to be installed on student and teacher browsers. Consent is obtained through the Google consent prompt.

Data Collected via Chrome Extension:
  • Browsing Activity: Including URLs visited, tab activity, and timestamps.
  • Directory Information: With user consent on the platform, we read directory information to match OpenID identities to the browsing data collected via the browser extension.
Purpose of Data Collection:
  • To allow LEAs to see their district's app usage data.
  • To identify which apps and technologies are being used that do not have data privacy agreements.
  • To help LEAs determine which apps they might be paying for that are not being used as much in the classroom.
Data Handling:

We view and match up users' names and Google Workspace organizational units for a more detailed user experience, but we do not store this information on our end.

Compliance with Google's Limited Use Policy

StudentDPA's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Read more about Google's Limited Use Policy.
